With the new “sharing economy,” financing a new boat as a charter vessel through us is becoming easier to understand. When you review the calculations, you’ll quickly realize that you get a better return on investment, maintenance, and service from Hanse, as well as greater peace of mind regarding your ownership.
Finance the Boat Through Chartering
When you wish to finance a new Hanse as a charter boat and put it into the charter fleet under our Smart Boat Ownership program—and we rent out the boat using BohusCharters’ booking system—you’ll be among the first in line for all incoming bookings, ensuring good occupancy rates and strong results. For full charters, the boat must be based at one of our locations in Sweden, and you can choose to finance the entire boat for private ownership or through a charter company.
For full charters, we handle the maintenance of the charter boat during the charter season, check-ins and check-outs, and ensure that maintenance schedules for the engine, etc., are followed. Base management, including marina services and check-ins and check-outs, is handled by Smart Båtägande on the east coast by staff at Svinninge Marina and on the west coast at Portside Marina. We ensure that the charter boat is serviced, inspected, and checked by knowledgeable staff.
Early in each season, you set aside the weeks you’d like to use the charter boat, and we’ll schedule your charter reservations accordingly.
We have a large, established customer base in our records that we actively work with to achieve the best results. It is important that the rental customer has the necessary nautical skills and experience for the size of boat they intend to rent. This is stipulated in the agreements we sign with the customer, which document their experience, nautical skills, and other relevant information.

You own 100 percent of the equity and receive the net return after each season, or you can finance 50 percent and we’ll finance the remainder through leasing and charter agreements for 6 seasons. After 6 seasons, you can extend the agreement, remove the charter boat from the program, or even bring the boat back to Sweden. In that case, you’ll only pay VAT on the market value. Alternatively, we can sell your boat. The boat is owned by the company, or—depending on your choice—a charter company is formed that you own and that owns the charter boat.
Finansiera ny segelbåt eller ny motorbåt i Smart Båtägande – Sverige. Financing the entire cost of the boat with your own capital and through a Swedbank Finans boat loan, after which the boat is chartered out by BohusCharter in Sweden. You own the boat privately under the “Charter Lite” program or through a company that you own, which in turn owns the charter boat.
Båten är normalt verksam i charter i 6 säsonger
If the boat is owned by a company, you can terminate the charter agreement and choose to have us sell the company along with the boat, or sell the boat outside the company to another buyer or to the financier/owner. You take possession of and have control over the boat.

We can handle everything from arranging insurance, a boat slip, and launching to winter storage, and payment comes from your rental profits.

The gross return per season for 7-week bookings, after booking fees, is estimated at 5% or 270,000 SEK, excluding VAT

With Charter Lite, you, as the owner of the sailboat, are responsible for check-ins and check-outs, inspections, handling of security deposits, and the maintenance and upkeep of the sailboat. These services can also be ordered through BohusYachts for 15% of the gross revenue.
The gross return per season, based on a 7-week occupancy rate and after booking fees, is estimated at 5% or 337,500 SEK, including Swedish VAT.
Operating and maintenance costs are calculated, with the cost of a boat slip, insurance, and maintenance supplies deducted to arrive at a surplus.

Putting your boat in the Charter Smart program means that we at BohusYachts take care of your boat and handle, among other things, check-in and check-out, inspections, and security deposit processing. We maintain and care for your sailboat. If you place your sailboat in the Charter Smart program, you’ll receive a gross return based on a 7-week charter in Sweden.
Price for a Hanse 418 equipped for charter, ordered in March 2025: 3,350,000 SEK
The gross return after charter fees per season is estimated at 4% or 140,000 SEK, excluding Swedish VAT.
Operating and maintenance costs, including insurance and a boat slip, are estimated at 96,000 SEK, excluding Swedish VAT
The surplus is expected to total 40,000–45,000 SEK, excluding Swedish VAT
