BB 15 – a classic sailing boat
The predecessor of this mio model BB15 is BB 11, which was one of Norway’s great sailing boats
Just like BB 11, BB 15 can be enjoyed by old or young, experienced or novice sailor.
Classic sailboat design – exclusive style
The classic design of the BB 15, together with the extensive use of teak and mahogany decking, in the cockpit and interior, gives the impression of being on board an exclusive classic wooden sailboat, yet enjoying the beautiful smooth finish of the fibre with its minimal maintenance requirements.
Convenient, safe and easy to use
Although a classic design above the waterline, the underwater hull design features a split lateral keel/rudder solution. The BB 15 meets modern requirements for comfort and safety and is CE certified. It’s exceptionally easy to sail, and with a draft of just 85 cm, the BB 15 will take you anywhere. Still, the boat is stiffly drifting when it reaches. In terms of deck layout, the emphasis has been on a minimum of equipment to allow for safety and sunbathing.
Self-draining cockpit
BB 15 has a practical self-draining cockpit system. In day sailing, the boat can take 3-4 p by hand. The cockpit has two movable crosses below deck. A stainless steel bracket on the mount on the port side of the boat allows for a cockpit. In the stern there is a large lockable outboard motor, as well as a separate, small one, which holds various items.
Easy handling of sails
With the BB 15’s fractional rig, raising and lowering the sails is quick and easy. By using “Lazy Jacks” on the mainsail, keeping the sail on the boom when lowered, combined with the available sail guards, allows the sails to stay on the rig when the boat is in heavy use. The BB 15 is designed for use with a gennaker, a fast and easy-to-handle wind sail, which allows you to get the full speed potential out of the boat. The mast is hinged to the mast step, which ensures quick and easy assembly and disassembly of the mast.
